China develops Atmospheric lidar to help haze control

Xinhua News Agency, HEFEI, April 11, the reporter learned from Anhui Institute of Optics, Hefei Institute of Material Science, Chinese Academy of Sciences, the project “research and development and application of laser radar system for space-time detection of atmospheric fine particles and ozone” undertaken by the Institute for the development of national major scientific instruments and equipment passed the preliminary acceptance of the Chinese Academy of Sciences a few days ago, it provides important means for environmental monitoring and haze control.

After identification, this project has successfully developed a fast online monitoring system with independent intellectual property rights, breaking through many common key technologies, it provides reliable technical means for the construction of real-time monitoring capacity and data analysis of atmospheric environment in China. The system integrates a variety of key technologies, develops several sets of prototypes, and forms the production capacity of the core components of laser radar and the whole system through technology transfer and production process development, it has cultivated competitive emerging industries of environmental monitoring and analysis instruments, broken the monopoly of developed countries on the core technology of laser radar, and reversed their dependence on imported products.

It is understood that the project has formed a variety of models of products for different needs, and has been equipped in the field of environmental monitoring, and has provided important means and high-end equipment for haze and photochemical pollution research.

Since 2013, atmospheric fine particles and ozone lidar have established a three-dimensional monitoring network in Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region and have been in good working condition for several years.
